This list mixes all kinds of things together. Some of them are easy to do straight away. Others need a bit of organisation. Some are more for younger children, others for teenagers. Maybe you can find a selection of ten or so activities which sound like fun, especially if you can get your friends joining in as well.

1. Walk to school, or round the park. Walk the dog so you can get fit together. Walk around town as you chat to your friends, instead of always hang around the same place.
2. Buy a frisbee and have fun with a friend. You can get out of breath running to catch it.
3. Play football in the park or get really organised and hire a 5-a-side pitch.
4. Try volleyball over the washing line, or at the sports centre
5. Enjoy a game of tag or hide and seek on the school yard
6. Organise a sponsored walk, or swim or bike ride
7. Try a racket game such as tennis
8. Badminton; there’s no need for a court if you want a knock-about
9. Basketball
10. Swimming gives you all-body exercise
11. Skateboarding
12. BMXing
13. Dancing, at the disco, or at the roller disco
14. Rollerskating or blading
15. Skipping is for anyone at any age. You can do it almost anywhere, but it’s best with friends
16. You can go to the sports centre for aerobics, yoga or gym exercises.
17. Go jogging with your friends round the park
18. Cycling to school, or just around the place. How about going with your parents on the 10-mile circular route south of Holbeach
19. Gardening can be good exercise
20. Join the Conservation Volunteers
21. Horse-riding keeps you fit.
22. If you have a choice, look for Saturday work which gives you exercise while you do it.
23. Go to cubs, brownies, guides, scouts and you’ll probably find yourself doing all kinds of active games
24. Going to sports clubs, or after-school clubs, for athletics, ball games, judo, jujitsu aikido karate, tae kwondo etc.
25. Use the Vitality Challenge to give up smoking if you have started.
26. Table Tennis soon has you out of breath, and you can try it at youth clubs
27. Youth clubs often organise outings
28. Spending too much of your life watching the telly or playing computer games? Cut down on screen time, and see how your health and social life get rolling.
